Seminar 048886

Location: Mayer 351

Course Topics

The students will present two papers each week, according to the schedule listed below.

Course Duties

Each student must present two papers during the semester (note that the date/time for presenting each paper is set).

Use the following link to select a paper to present: https://doodle.com/sign-up-sheet/participate/0a89cf60-5ce9-4035-9a0f-39e4eeab1ab6/select

Note that selecting a date also means selecting the paper scheduled for that date.

In your presentations, make sure you address the following points:
1. What is the problem that the paper addresses?
2. According to the authors, what is the new insight that the paper contributes?
3. How does the paper addresses the problem at hand?
4. What are the results?

You presentations should also convey your critique of the paper:
1. Is the problem important?
2. Are the insights significantly novel?
3. Is the methodology sound?
4. Are the results substantial?

Each presentation will have 45 minutes, 5 of which shoud be reserved for questions. When preparing the slides, take into account that you will spend an average of 1-1.5 minutes on each slide.
